MOVEMENT TO LIBERATE INDIA FROM CORRUPT FORCES

Desiya Jananayaga Katchi was founded by the Senior Journalist S.A.N.Vasigaran on April 04, 2008 as a political party for the new generation with progressive and enlightened social outlook. DJK was founded on the conviction that wealth and social privilege shouldn’t be an entitlement to rule the state and the belief that the moral values should guide us in politics. For more than two decades, the DJK's leader S.A.N.Vasigaran dedicated himself to helping rebuild the exploited sections of the society with a strong commitment to public morale. His social campaigns and meetings inspired the youth to get involved in the political process particularly in Tamil Nadu.

DJK wishes to bring out a government that  is open, transparent, participatory and responsive to the needs of the people. Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their government is doing. DJK firmly believes that openness in political leadership would strengthen our democracy and promote effectiveness in governance.

DJK has been relentlessly advocating an economy based on hard work and social responsibility, not greed and reckless speculation - an economy that strengthens the basic infrastructure and empowers the youth. S.A.N.Vasigaran categorically declares "Today, what is certainly lacking is the political will and integrity on the part of India's elected leaders. If India can revert to re-channeling its massive human resources through a commitment to the clean political path, it can resolve its crises. This is the immediate struggle every Indian has to non-violently and passionately carry out. Together, we have begun to lay a new foundation for growth, building a political system that works for all sections of the society"

INCLUDE ACTIVISTS FROM SOUTH IN LOKPAL PANEL
The New Indian Express, Chennai, Friday, May 06, 2011
Chennai : In view of the 2G scandal and other scams surfacing in the southern states of India, activists here observed a day-long fast demanding inclusion of a social activist from the south India in the Lokpal Bill Drafting Committee to ensure equal representation.

The fast organized by members of the Desiya Jananayaga Katchi (DJK) and other social activists urged the Union Government to reconstitute the Lokpal Bill Drafting Committee as the panel lacked representation from southern India, even as these states were most affected by corruption.

The group is also planning to file a petition in the SC requesting reconstitution of the Drafting Panel, if the government fails to meet their demands.

"We want to build this movement by urging social activists to join us and press the government to reconstitute the Drafting Panel" said S.A.N.Vasigaran, Founder President of DJK.
